ReplyDeleteI really struggled with this book because, while it got rave reviews and was well received, I truly did not find it very enjoyable. While I am interested in reading many types of fiction, even ones that make you think, I don't feel as if I got the closure I wanted and I think David got off easy. I know he struggled with his conscience which ruined his marriage and son, I still think he should have been around to bear Norah's wrath.
The characters in this book are easy to dislike, which may have been the intention, but I felt no connection to most of the characters, except to feel for Norah's loss, Phoebe's accomplishments, and Paul's horrible childhood. The book does teach a valuable lesson on being honest...oh how things would have been different if David were honest from the beginning.
